Our touring lessons take place at Charles Daley Park on the outskirts of St. Catharines, located on the south shore of Lake Ontario. This course is meant for complete beginners who are looking for skills that will allow them to go out on day or weekend trips in touring or recreational kayaks. You will learn the same skills as in our basic course, but also rescues, packing, rudder use, and more advanced paddle strokes and braces. Courses consist of one full day (9:00am - 4:00pm) We use a variety of different kayaks to ensure that those looking at purchasing have a chance of trying different styles before they decide on what will suit their needs best.
Duration: 6 hrs. total
Prerequisites: 12+ years old
Skills Taught: Entry and exit, wet exits, paddle strokes, rescues, bracing, packing, clothing to wear, overview of equipment used in kayaking, choosing a boat that is right for you, transporting (on a vehicle), rudder use.
